Cruise Description

7 Night Cruise sailing from Port Canaveral roundtrip aboard Mardi Gras.

When we launched our first ship, 1972’s TSS Mardi Gras, we knew we were shaking things up. We made cruising a lot less stuffy, a bit less fancy, and the kind of fun everybody could enjoy.

Nobody expected this ship to change the cruise world, but… here we are!

And if it happened again, it wouldn’t surprise us. In 2020 we’ll be launching a brand-new ship with a familiar name. You guessed it: Mardi Gras. We aren’t just paying homage to our first ship — in cruising circles this name suggests innovation, signals the start of something big. And it shouts “fun!” at the top of its lungs.

We’re building this new Mardi Gras to live up to that legacy, so start daydreaming now about what’s to come! For starters, imagine the greenest cruise ship in North America, the first to be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas (or “LNG”). Add innovative entertainment features, like being the first ship ever with an onboard rollercoaster: BOLT™. And give this thrilling ship of your dreams a unique look and layout — when designing this one we started from square one.

Everybody can enjoy Mardi Gras, sailing from Port Canaveral in 2020. Come on down!

Highlights of this cruise:

Port Canaveral, Florida
Cape Canaveral is a city in Brevard County, Florida, United States. It is most famous as the home of America's launch pad, Kennedy Space Center. Cape Canaveral is part of a region known as the "Space Coast", since all of the manned United States spacecraft are launched from the Space Center on nearby Merritt Island. The city of Cape Canaveral is located at the northern end of a barrier island on the Atlantic coast of Florida. It is due south of the geographical feature Cape Canaveral which is on Merritt Island.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
San Juan is a major port and tourist resort of the West Indies and is the oldest city under the U.S flag. The metropolitan area known as San Juan has 3 distinct areas: Old San Juan, the New San Juan, and other outlying communities, the most important: Río Piedras, Hato Rey, Puerta de Tierra, and Santurce. The old part of San Juan was founded in 1521 and is now officially declared a National Historic Zone. Many 16th- and 17th-century buildings have been restored and refurbished in the original Spanish style. This part of the city boasts many shops, restaurants, art galleries and museums. New San Juan is connected to the old town by a narrow neck of land, and modern architecture has flourished in recent years. In the sophisticated areas of Condado and Isla Verde, are glittering hotels; flashy, Las Vegas-style shows, casinos and discos. The Botanical Gardens are worth visiting. A bay cruise is also available, which offers excellent views of the city. El Yunque, east of the capital, is a 28,000-acre rainforest (with over 240 species of trees) and bird sanctuary. It is the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System and is located in the Luquillo Mountains.

Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British crown colony of more than 40 islands and small cays (only eight of which are inhabited). They offer numerous national parks, beautiful white sand beaches, nature reserves, sanctuaries and historical sites. Despite an increase in tourist numbers and a banking and insurance boom, the islands remain largely uncommercialized and unspoilt with small, personal places to stay and a heavy emphasis on ecotourism. Grand Turk is the islands' seat of government and commerce, as well as their historic and cultural center. The Turks & Caicos National Museum, situated on the waterfront, tells the story of the oldest shipwreck discovered in the Americas and exhibits rare prints and manuscripts from all of the islands. Front Street has a number of colonial buildings, dating from the early 19th century. They have imposing entrances in the high, whitewashed walls that surround their gardens. There are many delightful bays on the eastern shores of Grand Turk. The island is also an excellent base for diving and fishing.
